1. Cisco NX-OS simulator for MDS9000 and N7000 Series Product lines.
2. Cisco’s UCS Simulator.
2. Netapp Simulator for Data OnTAP 8.1 (Standalone and Clustered Mode).
3. EMC Simulator for VNX, Symmetrix and other product lines.
4. IBM Simulator for XIV, SVC (San Volume Controller) and DS4000/DS5000/DS8000 Product lines.
The common reading that I have for all these company websites is that these simulators are rarely available to common IT folks (individuals who want to do a self learning). Its meant for partners and/or customers only. This also means that anyone who want to learn these product lines have to fork out a large sum of money just to learn these. I am wondering why it has become a rare commodity now. At least it used to be available for Netapp ONTAP 7.3 (Netapp earlier seemed to have given free access to Data-ONTAP simulator), but its not freely available now.
There have been a long pending wishlist to get Cisco NX-OS Simulator, but again it seems to be a wishlist only.
IBM does seem to have simulator for DS-Storage + XIV product lines.
EMC Communities do seem to talk about EMC Simulators, but I don’t see it in any EMC specific websites.
If anyone know of some of these simulators (official links), do put them in the comments section.
Note: this post will keep evolving based on user inputs and my research on these areas.
